Science behind Facial

Facial is a very popular procedure widely spread around the world. What do we know about Facial? Here is a definition from Wikipedia: A facial is a family of skin care treatments for the face, including steam, exfoliation, extraction, creams, lotions, facial masks, peels, and massage. They are used for general skin health as well as for specific skin conditions.

That’s it?

Obviously, such components of facial as cleansing, makeup removal, hydration / moisturizing, refining, normalization, drying (when necessary),nourishing with vitamins, muscle relaxation, detoxification, brightening or tanning, sun screen protection, harmful environment protection, collagen nourishing, enzymes enrichment, hyaluronic acid nourishing etc. play it’s technical role.

But is it just all about topical application of creams, serums, oils, mists, etc?

So let’s see what is our skin about:

“The skin is the largest organ of the body. The skin protects us from microbes and the elements, helps regulate body temperature, and permits the sensations of touch, heat, and cold.

Skin has three layers:

  • The epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone.

  • The dermis, beneath the epidermis, contains tough connective tissue, hair follicles, and sweat glands.

  • The deeper subcutaneous tissue (hypodermis) is made of fat and connective tissue.

The skin’s color is created by special cells called melanocytes, which produce the pigment melanin. Melanocytes are located in the epidermis.”

Human skin has unique properties of which functioning as a physicochemical barrier is one of the most apparent. The human integument is able to resist the penetration of many molecules. However, especially smaller molecules can surpass transcutaneously. They are able to go by the corneal layer, which is thought to form the main deterrent. Scientists argue that the only condition of molecular weight (MW) of a compound must be under 500 Dalton to allow skin absorption. Larger molecules cannot pass the corneal layer.

According to an analysis by Ushma S. Neill, editor at large at the Journal of Clinical Investigation: “ … a typical ingredient in an effective skin-care product can break up the dead stratum corneum cells … but most creams do not penetrate through the epidermis. Something like a protein won’t go anywhere past the surface.”

So why then in some cases we can see no result and we feel the same, and in other cases we can see great outcomes from facial we feel rested, fresh, motivated, our skin heals and improves and it is not a gloss of chemical but a gloss coming somewhere from inside.

I have a friend he is a Doctor of Osteopathy. He used to visit his Massage Therapist as a Patient to heal his spine/back. He moved to another City some time ago and started to visit new Massage Therapist. And he said he couldn’t feel those effect he used to have before. He shared that Personal Energetics of his earlier Therapist was great, Practitioner was mostly happy and positive, and during manipulations Patient could feel heat coming out of his hands and very relaxing and trusting atmosphere and energy. During procedure my friend almost always tended to fall asleep. After the procedure he felt fresh, relaxed, with good mood and no pain in the back. His new Therapist was also Top Level Professional, but something didn’t work in this case.

My friend is absolutely sure that this is kind of energy exchange, more then massage, he felt like an Iphone connected to great charger in the first case, and connected to broken charger in second case.

Did you know, that polarization and charge of molecules is one of the main factors in absorption of substances by skin. Also human biological electromagnetic field is something that affects cells. That’s where rejuvenation start from inside, rather then outside of your skin.

So, your Facial Practitioner has to be a Healer by fact, to help you experience full effect of facial.

One of my massage teachers in Eastern Hemisphere said you shall not be fully booked with facials because you must have enough time to restore your energy. Otherwise procedure will turn into mechanical algorithm with no healing effect.

Professional manipulations obviously will improve blood flow and cellular oxygenation. Can it be substitute with automatic technology then? You know, like Massage Chair.

There is no clear answer on that. And still some Clients realizing that or not are coming to enjoy communication in addition to procedure.

Professional facial helps regulation of the immune system, detoxification, reduction in localized fluid buildup, stimulation of lymphatic drainage, exfoliation, and stress relief. Healing Professional Facial will help your own body to wake up and boost growth hormone, collagen, elastin production and transportation of stem cells to damaged tissue.

P.S. If you heard about Dr. Masaru Emoto, a scientist studying effect of mind on crystal structure of frozen water (http://www.masaru-emoto.net/english/water-crystal.html). Here is what you can experiment with – when washing your face in the morning and evening keep water in your palms, thank water for it’s healing effect, express love to water, think grateful to your face and body and make wishes. If you don’t like something in your face don’t think about this or at least don't think negative, think positively and productively: "I want to correct this...get rid of this...add this.... Concentrate only on what you like and know everything is possible! Please, share with your experience!

Sincerely yours,

Nina
